Abstract

No randomised controlled studies have been identified which assess the effectiveness of operative resection of a septate uterus (a septate uterus is a division of the womb into two cavities, instead of one cavity) in women with recurrent miscarriage (RM). Recurrent miscarriage is seen more often in women with a septate uterus in comparison with women with a normal uterus. Surgical removal (hysteroscopic metroplasty) of this septum can potentially improve pregnancy outcomes in women with RM. However, judgment as to whether this treatment is effective is not possible due to a lack of available randomised evidence.
