Abstract

The authors build a simulation of the precipitation observed in the cusp in response to pulsed reconnection events occuring in the magentopause. They study the effect of intervals between reconnection events on the occurance, the latitudinal width, and the energy distributions observed in charged particle precipitation events in the cusp region. In general the precipitation events are observed to be continuous, even in the face of pulsed reconnection. They study the impact of reconnection events occuring at different locations along the magnetopaues.
