Abstract

A sulfonated polyaniline (SPAN) film as an intermediate layer between the electrode, tin oxide (TO) and the active layer improves the efficiency of photovoltaic devices based on poly(3-methylthiophene), PMT. In TO/SPAN/PMT/Al devices, the incident-photon-to-collected-electron efficiency reaches 12.1% and power conversion efficiency 0.8% under monochromatic irradiation (λ = 580nm; 0.8W/m2). Under AM 1.5 conditions 1000W/m2, a power conversion efficiency of 0.04% is reached.
