Abstract

The biological characteristics of the giant grenadier Albatrossia pectoralis and its spatial and vertical distribution of catches are considered based on the results of experimental fisheries of the deepwater fishes by the bottom traps in four regions of Russian far-eastern waters (Pacific waters of the south-eastern coast of Kamchatka, western part of the Bering Sea, ridge of Shirshov, waters around the Commander Islands). Changing of the catch sizes depending on the depth of fishing, soak time, and fishing area is analyzed; the questions concerned with eating away of fishes by amphipods (Amphipoda) are considered.
