This paper presents experimental studies performed at 1g laboratory scale to simulate a piled embankment at a length-scale factor of 1/10. Tests were performed with and without basal geosynthetic reinforcement. Each test configuration was performed twice in order to assess repeatability and to increase confidence in the experimental results. High surface pressure was applied to highlight the mechanisms and the influence of parameters, such as the presence of the geotextile. Results were then compared to analytical models given by standards or guidelines
