Cobalt oxide particles with a maximum of size distribution at 1.3-1.5 nm and in the state of CoO were synthesized within faujasite zeolites by a method comprising ion exchange of Co(2+), precipitation of exchanged Co(2+), and calcination. The metallic cobalt generated by the reduction of the encapsulated CoO(x) at 673 K exhibited higher CO conversion in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
