A set of heterobifunctional oligo ethylene glycols have been synthesized in a straightforward and stepwise manner starting from inexpensive, commercially available, tetraethylene glycol. Introduction of terminal allyl moieties followed by reductive ozonolysis allowed controlled elongation.
