Nuno Rodrigues Freire de Andrade, Mestre da Ordem de Cristo, durante o período de 1356-1372, inserindo-o no contexto da época, ou seja, nos reinados de D. Pedro I e nos primórdios do reinado de D. Fernando. Importa salientar que pretendemos conhecer a orgânica e funcionamento da Ordem durante o período proposto e também compreender as relações que se estabeleceram entre a Ordem e a monarquia entendendo o seu papel no funcionamento político dos reinos. O plano de trabalho irá desenvolver-se em três momentos principais que nos permitem ir conhecendo a dinâmica da Ordem durante o período do Mestrado de D. Nuno Rodrigues. No primeiro, pretendemos contextualizar a Ordem de Cristo, desde a sua fundação até ao início do Mestrado de D. Nuno Rodrigues Freire de Andrade. Este primeiro ponto visa traçar o caminho da Ordem de Cristo durante os seus primeiros tempos até ao período a que nos propusemos tratar. O segundo momento será marcado pela ascensão à dignidade mestral por parte de D. Nuno Rodrigues e o seu Mestrado durante o reinado de D. Pedro I (1357-1367). É através deste ponto que iremos observar, quer as mudanças efectuadas no seio da Ordem, quer as relações que se estabelecem com a Coroa. O último momento culminará com os primeiros anos do reinado de D. Fernando (1367-1373) e com os últimos do Mestrado de D. Nuno Rodrigues Freire de Andrade e importa saber quais as relações que se estabeleceram entre a Coroa e a Ordem de Cristo e também averiguar as mudanças no seio da Ordem, no que respeita à sua organização ou ao seu funcionamento. ; Abstract: This paper has the goal of studying D. Nuno Rodrigues Freire de Andrade’s master post, master of the Order of Christ during the period of 1356-72, taking it in consideration through its proper period, which is the reign of D. Pedro I, and in the early years of D. Fernando’s reign. It would be important to acknowledge our intent to analyze the organization and functioning of the Order during the proposed interval of time, as well as the relations established between the Order and the monarchy, as we go deeper in the comprehension of its role in the political functioning of the reigns. The work schedule will structure itself in three main moments, which will allow us to deepen our knowledge about the dynamics of the Order during the period of D. Nuno Rodrigues’s master post. Firstly, we intend to recreate the circumstances in which the Order of Christ existed, since its foundation until the beginning of D. Nuno Rodrigues Freire de Andrade’s ascending to master post. This subject aims at tracing the path of the Order of Christ during its early years until the period we have proposed to work on. The second moment would attend the ascending of D. Nuno Rodrigues to its Master ordained post, and its master placement during D. Pedro’s reign. In this matter, we intend to look over both the changes within the Order and the relations that were established with the Crown. The last moment will reach its highest point with D. Fernando’s first years of reign, and the last years of D. Nuno Rodrigues Freire de Andrade as a master, by which time it will matter to investigate the relations between the Crown and the Order of Christ, as well as observing the changes within the Order, in what concerns its organization or functioning.
