Abstract

The burden of influenza remains substantial despite unremitting efforts to reduce the magnitude of seasonal influenza epidemics and prepare for pandemics. Although vaccination remains the mainstay of these efforts, current vaccines are designed to stimulate an immune response against the viral hemagglutinin.
