Abstract

The consumption of food supplements has been decreasing nowadays. The search for the perfect body, improving sports performance or maintaining health leads people to look for ways to accelerate or process weight loss, obtain lean mass gain and retain the sarcopenia process. Creatine (CR) is among the most used dietary supplements for these purposes. The objective of the present work is to visualize the benefits brought by the practice of CR supplementation by practitioners, amateurs and professionals, from different sports. It is an integrative literature review where articles were selected using the Google Scholar, MEDLINE, LIACS and SciELO platforms and only articles published from 2016 were selected for the research sample space. The CR may be improving performance in short-term activities, and rest between high and high intensities, in addition to potentiating hypertrophy and raising strength levels. However, there is still a divergence between the results found in the selected works and, for this reason, further studies on the theme are necessary.
