O presente estudo foi desenvolvido com o propósito de identificar e avaliar como vem sendo realizado o ensino de gerência dos serviços de enfermagem e como é desenvolvida a competência geral na graduação, fornecendo subsídios norteadores ao enfermeiro no âmbito da Gestão em Enfermagem, especialmente para os desafios lançados às suas competências gerenciais. Consiste em uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica. O levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado pela Internet, no banco de dados Lilacs e na Base de Dados Bibliográficos Especializada na Área de Enfermagem do Brasil. Os critérios utilizados para a seleção da amostra foram: artigos publicados em periódicos nacionais e internacionais no período de 2000 a 2016, independentemente do método de pesquisa utilizado. Foi possível observar que o cuidado de enfermagem consiste na essência da profissão e que as competências gerais propostas pelas Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para a formação dos profissionais de saúde apontam suas interfaces com os saberes da Administração e da Enfermagem. Apesar de o tema ter uma repercussão forte e um amplo espaço no mercado de trabalho, ainda existe uma dificuldade em definir com clareza as competências gerenciais do enfermeiro, mas as metas caminham para a possibilidade de alcançar melhores resultados correspondentes aos desafios da profissão e do mercado de trabalho. MANAGEMENT EDUCATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF GENERAL NURSING SKILLS IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES: A LITERATURE REVIEW ABSTRACT The present study was developed with the purpose of identifying and evaluating how the management of nursing services has been carried out and how the general competence in the undergraduate course has been developed, providing nursing guidance in Nursing Management, especially for the challenges their managerial skills. It consists of a bibliographic review research. The bibliographical survey was carried out through the Internet, in the database Lilacs and in the Bibliographic Database Specialized in the Nursing Area of Brazil. The criteria used for the selection of the sample were: articles published in national and international journals from 2000 to 2016, independent of the research method used. It was possible to observe that nursing care consists of the essence of the profession and that the general competences proposed by the National Curricular Guidelines for the training of health professionals point their interfaces with the knowledge of the Administration and Nursing. Although the theme has had a strong repercussion and ample space in the labor market, there is still a difficulty in clearly defining the managerial competencies of the nurse, but the goals go towards the possibility of achieving better results corresponding to the challenges of the profession and the labor market.
