Abstract

Staudinger-Vilarrasa reaction is an efficient pathway to make amide bound starting with azide and carboxylic acid. That fast reaction is a key tool for synthesis of wild range of monomers for electrodeposition. In this work, we report the first use of Staudinger-Vilarrasa reaction in order to prepare monomers for hydrophobic and superhydrophobic surface by electrodeposition. This work includes the synthesis of different monomers with various hydrophobic chains, study of the surface properties and morphologies depending on the hydrophobic chain and the number of deposition scans.
