Abstract

In summary, genetic research of complex traits requires the inclusion of multiple study populations and designs, the complementary analysis strategies of linkage, association and DNA sequencing and the complementaiy knowledge of the biology of humans and animal models. In most of these studies the influence of environmental factors such as lifestyle and nutrition is hardly investigated. Such data would enable a more sophisticated analysis of the gene by environment interactions.
