Abstract

Objectives: Compare treatment response of craniofacial orthopedics on class III with unilateral cleft lip and palate and non-cleft patients. Methodology: Twelve patients divided in two equal groups of UCLP and NON cleft with mean age of 10.6 + 2 and 9.8 +4 yrs respectively. Each patient had bonded Hyrax splint with Petit facemask. Pre and post treatment cast of each samples were compared within groups on right and left side and between both groups. Statistics: Paired t tests and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to assess correction (p < 0.05) with SPSS for Windows, release 20.0.1. Results & Conclusion: Change in midpalatal raphe to maxillary canine width is greater on left than right side in cleft patients with statistical significance, and no difference within non-cleft patients. Intercanine width in UCLP patients was greater in cleft than non-cleft patients. No significant difference was observed between cleft and non cleft group in relation to sagital movement.
