Abstract

Several types of mesoporous silica-alumina adsorbents with varied ratios were prepared by spray pyrolysis and were used for the purification of the anticancer agent paclitaxel. When (Silica/Alumina molar ratio = 0.5/0.5) was used, the highest purity (~27%) and yield (~63%) of paclitaxel were obtained from adsorbent treatment and hexane precipitation. Removal of impurities was confirmed by TGA analysis of the organic substances that were adsorbed to the adsorbent.
