Abstract

RESUMO As salmoneloses estão entre os problemas de maior prevalência na avicultura industrial, entretanto, este problema necessita de um cuidadoso programa de prevenção e controle que devem contemplar medidas que possam evitar a transmissão vertical e horizontal. Com o objetivo de pesquisar a incidência de Salmonella em pintos de corte de um dia de idade, durante o período de junho a dezembro de 2002, foram examinados 130 lotes de pintainhos recém-nascidos, contendo 10 pintos em cada lote. Foram colhidas gemas de cada um dos pintos de cada lote e realizado um "pool" de amostras para pesquisa de Salmonella spp. Dos 130 lotes examinados, 32 (24,62%) apresentaram resultado positivo para Salmonella, sendo 24 (18,46%) Salmonella Enteritidis e 8 (6,15%) Salmonella enterica subespécie enterica (O: 9,12). De acordo com os resultados obtidos, concluímos que a incidência de Salmonella em avicultura industrial é significativa e a freqüência de isolamentos de Salmonella Enteritidis é um fato que deve ser priorizado uma vez que é um sorotipo importante na saúde pública. Salmonelosis is among the biggest problems in the poultry industry, however, this problem needs a careful prevention and control program to implant steps to avoid vertical and horizontal transmission. With the objective to research the incidence of salmonella in one-day broiler chicks from July to December 2002, 130 lots of newborn chicks, containing 10 chicks pear lot were examined yolks were collected from every chicks of each lot and a pool of samples for research of Salmonella spp. was constituted. From the130 lots examined, 32 (24.62%) showed positive results for Salmonella, being 24 (18.42%) Salmonella Enteritidis and 8 (6.15%) Salmonella enteric subspecies enteric (O: 9.12). According to the results obtained, we concluded that the incidence of Salmonella in the poultry industry is significant and the frequence of an isolation of Salmonella Enteritidis is a fact that must be priorized since it is an important serotype for public health.
