Abstract

Introduction Although the history of NGOs goes back to the 1940s, it is largely since the 1980s that they began receiving a high profile as development role-players offering an alternative development approach to poverty alleviation and long-term sustainable development to poor communities in developing countries (Drabek: 1987).
