Abstract

► Histamine is covalently attached to protein-integrated glutamine residues. ► Transglutaminase II (TGM2) is catalyzing protein histaminylation in P815 mast cells. ► Histaminylation of a catalytic glutamine activates G proteins Gαq, Gαo1 and Cdc42. ► Histaminylation is a novel posttranslational modification belonging to the class of protein monoaminylations.
