Abstract

This article describes the details of a sensor network that is currently being deployed at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The sensor network allows scientists to retrieve sensor data that has a high spatial and temporal resolution. We give an overview of the energy-efficient data aggregation algorithms that are used to acquire all the data. The data from the GBR can be used to monitor pollutant levels and study fish behaviour which in turn will help the fishing industry.
