Abstract

l-Phenylalanine (l-Phe) was used as a ligand model for the anticancer drug melphalan. CoIII–Phe complexes were successfully designed for hypoxia-selective release of l-Phe from CoIII–Phe upon Co3+/Co2+ reduction by ascorbic acid.
