Abstract
Four butterfly-like binuclear Ru(ii)–Ru(ii) and Ir(iii)–Ru(ii) complexes were designed and synthesized via a stepwise method by Ru(ii)/Ir(iii) metalloligands containing polypyridine (bpy)/phenylpyridine (ppy), phenanthroline (phen) and bibenzimidazole (BiBzIm) moieties.
