@article{Derks1, abstract = {Magnetic actuation principles using superparamagnetic particles suspended in a fluid are studied in this paper. Two experimental setups for different magnetic field settings are designed and fabricated. On the basis of optical velocity measurements, the induced behavior of single and ordered chains was analyzed and compared to theoretical models. Interactions between the particles, fluid and nearby walls induce self-organization phenomena, that can be used for performance enhancement of particles as transport carriers and fluid drivers in micro systems.}, author = {Derks, Roy J.
