Considérant, comme le laisse entendre le second Wittgenstein des Investigations, que les mots sont doués d’effets tangibles, cet article a pour objectif de présenter et d’examiner de près la catégorie culturelle mexicaine de la naquez (ou naquisa : équivalent français du concept vernaculaire de plouc) et de réfléchir aux conséquences sociologiques de ses usages. Cet effort interprétatif, qui conjugue sur le plan analytique plusieurs points de vue sociolinguistique, historique anthropologique et philosophique, a pour principal résultat de commencer à mettre en évidence une autre facette de la mexicanité inscrite dans les rapports de force et les rapports de sens, qui structurent une large partie de la société mexicaine d’aujourd’hui, et qui tient à ce que l’on pourrait identifier comme un phénomène de discrimination esthétique, véritable antichambre d’un racisme autant social que culturel. Finalement, si chaque Mexicain tient un peu du naco et s’il considère par ailleurs que son voisin de palier ou son Beau frère incarne davantage cette figure culturelle, il convient de reconnaître que cette affaire de goût est un donné universel. ; Drawing from the later Wittgenstein, author of the Philosophical Investigations, according to which words have palpable effects, the goal of this article is to present and interrogate the Mexican cultural category of the naco, with the related terms naquez and naquisa. The meaning of this cluster of terms is more or less equivalent to the French vernacular plouc. It is defined by a sort of “bad taste,” but also carries a racializing charge. The article also reflects on the sociological uses of these terms. The main result of this interpretive work, which gathers sociolinguistic, historic, anthropological, and philosophical concerns analytically, is to begin to throw into relief another facet of Mexican identity. The « naco » concept forms part of the relations of power and meaning that structure much of Mexican society today, and is something we might identify both as belonging phenomena of aesthetic discrimination, and also as an antechamber to an overt racism that is social as well as cultural. Finally, if every Mexican is « a little bit naco », and each considers his neighbor or brother-in-law to be more so, it is worth pointing out that this matter of aesthetic tastes is a universal datum. ; Tomando en cuenta la idea del segundo Wittgenstein, autor de las Investigaciones, según la cual las palabras surten efectos palpables, este artículo tiene por objetivo presentar e indagar de cerca la categoría cultural mexicana de lo naco (naquez o naquisa, cuyo significado equivale aproximadamente al concepto vernáculo francés de « plouc »), así como reflexionar sobre las consecuencias sociológicas de los usos de la misma. Esta labor interpretativa, la cual, en el plan analítico, convoca a varios enfoques sociolingüístico, histórico, antropológico o filosófico, tiene por principal resultado de empezar a poner de relieve otra faceta de la mexicanidad que forma parte de las relaciones de poder y las relaciones de significado que estructuran buena parte de la sociedad mexicana de hoy en día, y que bien podríamos identificar como un fenómeno de discriminación estética que constituye la verdadera antesala de un racismo tanto social como cultural. Finalmente si bien cada mexicano es un poco naco y si bien considera que su vecino de piso o su cuñado lo es que más él, conviene advertir que este asunto de gusto estético es un dato universal.
