Abstract

In a commentary on recent papers which have aimed to improve the recognition of dehydration in children the challenges of assessing and managing this very common condition are discussed. It can be argued if those assessing and validating the extent of dehydration in studies are specifically trained to do so they do not represent a pragmatic representative version of the actual clinical assessment that may occur by untrained staff.
